Drosophila melanogaster      Other/MOS

※ MOS family introduction

MOS kinases are chassified to "Other" group. One member have been identified in human genome, known as proto-oncogene serine/threonine-protein kinase mos. MOS protein is a ser/thr kinase which can activate the MAP kinase cascade through mediate direct phosphorylation of MAP kinase activator MEK. MOS kinase is subject to tight translational regulation in oocytes from a variety of vertebrate species. In mouse meiotic cell cycle progression, MOS protein function is necessary for arrest of the mature oocyte at meiotic metaphase II. In frog, MOS is also required earlier during oocyte maturation to mediate the Meiosis I to Meiosis II transition (1).
