Gallus gallus      Other/NKF1

※ NKF1 family introduction

NKF1 kinases belong to "Other" group. This family was first defined in human kinome paper as New Kinase Family 1. NKF1 kinases are present in most animals and threes members have been classified in human genome, SBK1, SgK069 and SgK110, for their highly similar protein kinase catalytic domain. NKF1 kinases are also known as SH3-Binding domain kinase for their ability to interact with Fas SH3 domains. NKF1 kinases have been identified as a survival factor for ovarian carcinoma cell line and to be dysregulatd in cancers. Xenopus homolog SBK1 have been found expressed only in blastula and gastrula stages of development and played an important role in control of microtubules (1).
