Ornithorhynchus anatinus      Other/Slob

※ Slob family introduction

Slob family contains one member in human genome which is known as PXK (PX domain-containing protein kinase-like protein). PXK consists of a ser/thr kinase catalytic domain, however several key residues that are important of intrinsic catalytic activity is absent. Human PXK have at four splice isoforms and each of them has a different subcellular localization. PXK can binds to and modulates brain Na, K-ATPase subunits ATP1B1 and ATP1B3 and play an critical role in regulation of electrical excitability and synaptic transmission (1,2).
